I am obviously in the camp that it should NOT be for profit, along with all the other life-saving and essential services we have.
They don't charge you to put the fire out in your house. Is that dirty socialism too?
If you call the police because there's an intruder in your house, do they ask if you have insurance?
No other developed country has a 100% for-profit healthcare system. They have hybrid systems of single-payer and private.
I don't think taking the profit out of it would starve innovation because drug companies and manufacturers would still make a profit. The profit we're talking about removing is the insurance companies, who provide ZERO benefit to the world.
