The world is in fact consuming Data at a rate that is not sustainable with current technology and it is about to hit a wall and no one knows what will happen when that occurs. Think about it, a single individual just watching their dog from work is consuming more bandwidth than an Apollo mission to the moon. And we are using more and more energy every year to power this need. What if someone could produce something that was 2 to 3 times faster and used only a fraction of the electricity at ½ the cost?
Today’s computers are using silicon with electrons to perform calculations, those electrons are converted with modulators/transceivers to light and then sent down fiber optic lines with materials that are only 1/3 as fast as Lightwaves Patented Polymer
Todays 100Gig Devices are made up of 4 x 25 Gig, Lightwaves will be 1x100 and because only 1 volt is required it will not require a booster which costs more $'s (New Patent Filed). Direct Drive Modulators will use the Electrons from the Silicon to embed the 1's and 0's in the Laser. Get it? (1 instead of 4, Faster, Less Electricity and no need for a Driver, it looks like Lightwave can get to $1 per Gig ($100 bucks per modulator instead of $1,000 AND use less electricity)
The industry needs a stable material that is compatible with Silicon (and the CMOS process) to make the conversion on new Hybrid devices, todays answer are devices made of Indium Phosphide (InP) and Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) these materials are slow and very expensive to use and do not scale (ability to reduce the cost, size while increasing speed) to move forward. Hence Lightwaves "Faster By Design" and the only place it will be available is from Lightwave Logic, this material is sprayed or spin coated on devices then poled (+ and –‘s lined up). Lightwave will start with a simple 100 Gig Modulator then move into numerous other applications and eventually inside the box for computing.
Recently (2/19) they created an advisory board with 3 industry titans to help guide them forward. IMO these guys will aid in Joining a Partner with Funding.
Initially when Lebby came on the board his goal was to create a 1 Gig, since that time they have done a 10 Gig, a 25 Gig and a 50 gig modulator and are now working on a 100Gig NRZ Modulator. THIS IS THE NEXT NODE STATE OF THE ART AND AHEAD OF TODAYS MATERIALS. NRZ is a SINGLE channel todays 100gig modulators are 4x25, Very Important to Understand, THIS IS WHAT SETS LIGHTWAVE APART.
Elevator Pitch - - - A Cheap Patented Plastic made in a lab and dropped Silicon that is compatible with the entire CMOS process, this will be used to convert Data to Light Waves using 1 Volt of electricity and does not require cooling (a very green technology) . Similar to and Intel inside TM.
