Another Women Comes Forward To Accuse Joe Biden Of Inappropriate Touching
A Connecticut woman has come forward and accused then-Vice President Joe Biden of inappropriately touching her in 2009 at a political fundraising event.
The Hartford Courant reports that Amy Lappos came forward with the allegation after she heard about former Nevada Democrat state Sen. Lucy Flores’ allegations against Biden last week. The Courant reports:
Lappos, 43, who is now a freelance worker with nonprofit agencies, said she felt extremely uncomfortable when Biden approached her at the 2009 fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4th, where she was volunteering. At the time, Lappos was a congressional aide to Himes, who she said was not in the room when the incident took place.
“It wasn’t sexual, but he did grab me by the head,” Lappos told The Courant. “He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.”
“I never filed a complaint, to be honest, because he was the vice president. I was a nobody,” Lappos continued. “There’s absolutely a line of decency. There’s a line of respect. Crossing that line is not grandfatherly. It’s not cultural. It’s not affection. It’s sexism or misogyny.”
Lappos made the allegation in a Facebook post using the pseudonym Alice Paul. Lappos wrote:
Biden did something similar to me at a fundraiser in Greenwich when I was a Congressional Aide. I’m really disappointed to see this post ask “thoughts” as if the grossness of men invading women’s boundaries to sniff and touch is is debatable. And shame on some of the women here excusing this as boys being boys or it’s not as bad as Trump. I can speak from experience when I say it’s an incredibly uncomfortable situation and not at all acceptable. We need to hold our men to the same standards we hold all men.
The incident reportedly happened on October 5, 2009, inside the home of a housing developer who was hosting the fundraising event.
“If Biden truly supports women and gender equality he would step aside and support one of the many talented and qualified women running,” Lappos added.
The newest allegation against Biden comes after Flores accused Biden last week of sexual harassment, saying that she “had never experienced anything so blatantly inappropriate and unnerving before.”
“Just before the speeches, we were ushered to the side of the stage where we were lined up by order of introduction,” Flores wrote. “As I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze. ‘Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?'”
“I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified,” Flores continued. “He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. … I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me.”
