The migrants are not taking the "field" jobs excep

Mexican 'commuter aliens' work in a lettuce field near El Centro, Calif.
California’s Imperial Valley and neighboring Yuma County in Arizona provide 90 percent of the winter vegetables consumed in the United States — from lettuce and spinach to broccoli and cauliflower.
Only a handful of the harvesters, farmworker advocates say, are hired by means of guest worker visas.
The vast majority are so-called “alien commuters” — they have green cards granting residency in the United States, but because they make poverty wages or have undocumented family members, they live in Mexico.
Mexican agricultural workers wait in line to cross the border at Mexicali, Mexico.

They're coming because of increased political strife
They are coming to get a job and much of their earnings are sent back to their home country. Many fail to get jobs and end up on welfare.
I saw many single women with small children. These women are poorly educated and speak no English. That means they can only get a low-paying job and they need to pay someone to care for their children while they work.

Dems repeatedly asked for more money for border guards NOT for the dumb ass wall.
In 2017, the starting annual salary for a border patrol agent is $40,511. If you work more than 40 hours per week or work on Sundays, holidays or evening shifts, you are eligible for an increased rate of pay.
Many military vets who receive a military pension are taking these jobs.
Border Patrol has thousands of openings it can't fill
According to Customs and Border Protection, as of March 17, there were 19,346 Border Patrol agents on duty, short of the congressionally mandated 21,370.
That's almost 100 fewer agents than there were at the end of September 2017.
BS from CNN! But the article is dated April 6, 2018 so it's a year old.
Congressional appropriators also noted that the agency's request for more Border Patrol agents "was not supported by any analysis of workload and capability gaps" that would allow them to assess whether the agents were even necessary.
Border crossings were at historic lows last year, though they have rebounded somewhat.
In fact, Customs and Border Protection has been struggling for years to even keep up with the rate of agents quitting or retiring, let alone hire the thousands more Trump has called for.

dumb ass wall.
Homeland Security secretary: Border walls work. Yuma sector proves it.
A bipartisan effort resulted in a wall that has cut the number of illegal immigrant apprehensions to a 10th of what it was in 2006.
For years, Yuma sector was besieged by chaos as a nearly unending flood of migrants and drugs poured across our border. Even as agents were arresting on average 800 illegal aliens a day, we were still unable to stop the thousands of trucks filled with drugs and humans that quickly crossed a vanishing point and dispersed into communities all across the country.
It is hard for anyone familiar with Yuma sector today to imagine this scene. That’s because nearly a decade ago, a group of bipartisan lawmakers came together to protect the homeland, save innocent lives, and build a physical barrier across the border.
