I'm not an expert on this, but, I've been told there are back deals between brokers and large clients that never hit the ticker tape so to speak. Could this account for the actual volume even though we don't see it in our brokerage accounts?
I'm going to have to research this since you are bringing up a good question.
The poster is good at digging up info so maybe a simple answer will come of it.
