The theory is, you have fewer shares, but the dollar value stays the same because of the higher price per share. So for example, twenty shares at one cent are worth the same as one share at twenty cents. With the current stock structure, it might've taken us forever to get to twenty cents, no matter how much good news we have coming. We will now have the potential to get to a dollar and beyond a lot quicker.
Also, it's more likely more investors will come on board as a higher price gives the company more credibility.
The danger is that after the split, the stock goes tumbling down to a nickel or something. However, I believe they planned it with all the positive news about to come up, so the stock price should be stable and hopefully go up.
I suppose all the investors who were buying up stock at or below one cent, could always sell and get their money back before the split happens. It would be a knee-jerk reaction and most likely one a person would regret down the road once the company really gets rolling.
