OUD - Opioid Use DISORDER (capped & highlighted w/ diff background!)
I saw this on a billboard on I-69 about 30 mi north of Indianapolis, IN; the home of Eli Lilly. How sick is this? Blame the victim. Now you have a DISORDER. Because you had pain and the pills that the doctors, practically speaking, shoved down your throat that caused addiction, now you have a disorder.
This is part of the pushback Big Phar(t)ma is using to discredit all the well-deserved and true accusations. They never stop, ever. To them, it is all about individual responsibility, but without saying it, only implying it. Subtle and crass at the same time. For them, no never, is there ever any responsibility. They lie, cheat, steal, deceive, defraud, & manipulate. But as soon as the heat gets turned up and the evidence starts to pile up, then its lockdown mode. Deny, deny, deny, then more lying, more deceiving, more manipulating. Who can we blame while at the same time looking like the good guy?
So, what is a guilty, opioid-pushing, multi-billion dollar corporation to do? Glad you asked. Set up an addiction foundation; Create a disorder that points the finger at the doctors and the users and when all else fails; Make plans to declare bankruptcy if too many lawsuits pile up. And splash it all over the news that we want to be part of the solution but all these gosh darn lawsuits, over 200 of them!!!, are making it very difficult for us (the multi-billion dollar profit drug operation) to do what we know is the right thing to do for all Americans, because, you know, we are all in this together. Except that we are filthy rich beyond avarice, do what we want, and you, well, not as much.
Oh, yeah, we have a pill to help to wean you away from those opioids, too. The pain is back you say? Aaaaahhhh, too bad. You see, those mean ole doctors who prescribed them and got you addicted, can't do that any more. How about some physical therapy to go with that pain? Heroin is cheap and plentiful. We made damn sure of that, now didn't we?
I say hit 'em where it hurts. No, not there although they deserve it; in the wallet, the pocketbook, the profits. Every dollar of profit should be confiscated as ill-gotten gains from a criminal conspiracy. Indict, arrest, try the case, convict, no plea bargain, and life without parole for all of them. Any FDA execs involved, same treatment. And in prison, to develop a life skill, they can sew, for 11 cents an hour, Versace designer jeans.
Buy Actipatch, by the boatloads. Shout it from the rooftops, and some more. Using our purchasing power, damn near the only power we have left, to undo the catastrophe these maniacal drug pushers, BigPhar(t)ma, have forced upon us.
