It is a checkpoint inhibitor
PD-I checkpoints located on T cells - like Keytruda
PD-LI checkpoints located on cancer cell , - like Tecentriq
Checkpoint inhibitors stimulates immune system - immunotherapy ,
but sometimes immune system start to attack also normal organs .
This can become serious or life threatening , and can lead even to death.
There are many sides effects with Tecentriq ,, most severe are :
Severe infection, severe muscle weakness ,irregular hear rate.
----Some patients developed severe infusion reaction -3.8% patients.
medicine is given IV , this is one more problem start with IV treatment.
Sometimes life threatening ,
Chills , shortness of breath , dizziness , fever , passing out , rash.
Also,
-- in patients with previous organ transplant , GvHD.
--immune mediated pneumonitis - 2.5%, patients , maybe fatal.
--immune mediated hepatitis -9% patients , maybe fatal.
--immune mediated colitis - 20% patients , maybe severe
--immune mediated endocrinophaties -
hypo or hyperthyroidism , adrenal gland insufficiency, may affect pancreas
( diabetes ), and pituitary gland.
We know that Leronlimab is working very well on some immune mediated diseases like MS , it is possible that if Leronlimab will be use with checkpoint inhibitors its may prevent or reduce side effects of those medications.
