Yes, Mr. Gottleib had worked at the FDA in a position of authority prior to 2015. When it came time to clean up the Shasta mess with the FDA, KB wanted not just to win, but to win and then leave a lasting legacy at the FDA for future product approvals. That left two Washington, DC attorneys to call on. The first lawyer was Gottlieb who advocated the Schmooze Approach. The Schmooze Approach was based on convincing FDA bigwigs that little DECN was not worth the time and resources the FDA was employing to make DECN's lives miserable. The other lawyer was the fellow that had represented Utah Medical some years before in a landmark case and was known as "The Hammer." Gottleib then came back and told KB that while he was friendly with the FDA people giving DECN all of this trouble, he didn't think the Obamacans could be reasoned with and ultimately he was not the right guy for the job because the DECN situation was so political and Gottleib was a Republican appointee while he was at the FDA and thought he might be blown off by the upper middle level people at the FDA. So KB then hired The Hammer. The Hammer did his job and everyone remained friends afterward.
People on this message board have no idea how perilous those times were. A killer lawsuit from J&J and a rogue Federal Enforcement Agency both licking their chops to kill DECN. And then there were some of the people who post on the other message board looking to help Shasta while at the same time trashing KB, not knowing or caring that Shasta was already dead, these people exacting revenge against KB and DECN all over stock price (hey that's an interesting refrain). It made the situation in 2014, 2015 and 2016 nearly impossible.
