DETROIT, MI - FEBRUARY 21: R. Kelly performs at Little Caesars Arena on February 21, 2018 in Detroit, Michigan.
On the heels of a documentary that reignited a public inquiry into R. Kelly's music and sexual innuendos, a Cook County court filing revealed that the Grammy winner was charged with ten counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. (This is according to both the Chicago Sun-Times and NBC News Chicago.)
A judge recently approved a no-bail warrant for the star.
Here is a list of the charges, as typed out and provided by Cook County States Attorney Kim Foxx in a Chicago press conference on Friday Feb. 22, 2019:
The "first victim" H.W. was involved in incidents occurring between May 26, 1998 and May 25, 1999. A grand jury returned an indictment of four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault based on the victim being under 17 and Robert Kelly being more than 5 years older than the victim.
The second victim, R.L. was involved in incidents occurring between Sept. 26 1998 and Sept. 25, 2001. A grand jury returned an indictment of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The alleged victim is under 17 at the time.
A third victim, L.C. was involved in an incident on Feb. 18, 2003, resulting in one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse "based on the transmission of semen by Robert Kelly upon any part of the body of the victim for the purposes of sexual gratification" during "the course of the underlying forcible felony of Attempt (sic) Criminal Sexual Assault."
A fourth victim, J.P. was involved in incidents between May 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010. A grand jury delivered three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Several cultural critics have been calling for police to arrest R. Kelly after Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly showcased interviews with several women and families of women - who have either been married to the star or alleged that they had been sexual partners of Kelly - provided details of their relationship.
For many the Dream Hampton-produced series was a refresher course on several decades worth of complaints against the singer, who has been accused of child abuse, sexually deviant behavior, brainwashing women and holding women hostage in his studios and homes.
And that documentary comes on the heels of the #MuteRKelly movement, which eventually resulted in the star's music being removed from Spotify-owned playlists and the recent removal of Robert Kelly from his record label RCA's website.

Kelly also was recently symbolically banned from Philadelphia.
Avenatti reportedly recently provided Cook County law enforcement agencies with new VHS tape of Kelly allegedly engaged in a sex act with a minor. Avenetti told Chicago news agencies that he is certain the video is of Kelly and, reportedly, a 14-year-old girl.
The star has previously been indicted on charges of child pornography but has denied all allegations and has not been convicted of any sex crimes. He released a song in the summer of 2018 named "I Admit," where he discussed these and other allegations.
