Nobody ran into the back of my Pinto to set in on fire. It was a great car for me after minor improvements. I drove the wheels off of it. It was, for instance, the first US car with disc brakes. And while the upholstery was cheesy, I still owned a $1895.00 race car. But that was over 40 years ago.
And frankly the reason the car died was not because of the gas tanks, but rather the "Ford" version of the car just sucked. I bid on eBay motors all the time looking for low mileage Pinto from 1971 and 1972 as well as another great car that receives too little praise, the 2008 Pontiac Solstice. But if I do buy a Solstice I could never explain it to my wife.
As for the DECN stock price, Mr. Berman's incompetence, and all the other nonsense that has replaced discussion on this board, that is the "Funny Stuff." All IMO
