CHICAGO, Feb. 13, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VelocityEHS , the global leader in cloud-based environment, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability solutions, is reminding safety professionals to file their Tier II Hazardous Chemical Inventory Reports (from the previous calendar year) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by the annual March 1 deadline. The company’s newly designed MSDSonline SDS/Chemical Management software platform helps streamline regulatory reporting obligations, like Tier II, by giving users easier ways to access their hazardous chemical inventory information, which gives them a clearer, more comprehensive understanding of their organization’s overall hazardous chemical footprint. Any facility with hazardous materials present at or above threshold amounts established by EPA may be subject to Tier II reporting obligations.

The latest release of VelocityEHS’ MSDSonline SDS/Chemical Management solutions contains over 350 new and improved features – including, expanded container-level inventory management tools, more robust regulatory cross-referencing features and improved reporting capabilities – that streamline Tier II obligations. The enhanced release also make it easier for safety professionals to complete Tier II report forms with the newly expanded list of GHS-aligned Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom or HCS) chemical classifications, put into effect last year by the EPA for the 2017 calendar year reports. Users can export corresponding Tier II report data into digital Tier II report files that can quickly and easily be imported directly into the EPA’s Tier2 Submit software application – the EPA’s electronic Tier II submission software, or into E-Plan, the online Tier II reporting system for certain states.

“Companies require more sophisticated chemical management solutions to help them manage today’s complex regulatory reporting obligations,” said Mike Flynn, VelocityEHS’ vice president of product development. “We completely rebuilt our MSDSonline SDS/Chemical management platform making it even easier to use and adding more robust regulatory cross-referencing and reporting tools that give our customers even more control over their compliance obligations and sustainability initiatives. Users now have a clearer, more up-to-date understanding of the hazardous chemicals present in their facilities, so they’re able to meet reporting requirements faster and easier than ever before.”

Employers with questions about EPA Tier II reporting are encouraged to attend VelocityEHS’ live webinar, EPA Tier II Reporting: How To Ensure Compliance with Updated Requirements . It offers more information to help them determine applicability, avoid common reporting mistakes, and apply strategies for staying in compliance. Available to the public at no additional cost, the webinar will be held on February 25, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET.

Mandated by Section 312 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA) – also known as the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) – Tier II forms capture critical information about the types, quantities and locations of hazardous chemicals at a given facility. Submitted annually to local fire departments, Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC) and State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs), Tier II reports help local and state emergency responders prepare for chemical events that could affect the community, and provide an emergency point of contact for each reporting facility. Covered companies are required to submit their Tier II reports for the 2018 calendar year by March 1, 2019. Visit  www.EPA.gov  to learn more.
