Atlanta, GA, Feb. 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rubicon Global, a technology company that provides waste, recycling and smart city solutions to businesses and governments worldwide, today announced that it has taken another strategic step in its growth by promoting Mr. Renaud de Viel Castel to Senior Vice President of Global Expansion, the first role of its kind for Rubicon.

Mr. de Viel Castel has been with Rubicon for the past three years, building and managing the company’s vast network of independent waste and recycling haulers in the U.S. and internationally. As part of his new responsibilities, Mr. de Viel Castel will be forming international relationships with haulers and developing innovative partnerships with commercial and government customers across the globe. Specifically, he will be introducing the RUBICONMethod TM zero-waste methodology, RUBICONConnect TM and RUBICONPremier TM customer solutions, and the RUBICONSmartCity TM technology suite to those companies and governments looking to build  more sustainable recycling and waste diversion programs.

“The waste and recycling challenges we face is a global problem that we need to address with smart technology solutions, shifting from the outdated landfill model to one that focuses on sustainability and diversion,” said Mr. de Viel Castel. “Rubicon is leveraging the power of technology to transform an antiquated waste model through smarter recycling and waste diversion solutions. I am so proud to be part of Rubicon’s growth story as we continue to deliver tangible results for our customers and partners.”

More Than A Decade Of Experience Prior to joining Rubicon, Mr. de Viel Castel was General Manager at Veolia North America for seven years, a global environmental solutions company focused on helping customers address sustainability challenges in energy, water and waste.  Mr. de Viel Castel worked through the leadership ranks at Veolia, serving as a senior leader for four of Veolia’s national and international entities within the company and directly managing more than 50 employees and more than 200 independent contractors.

Having lived in Washington, D.C. and Paris, France before joining Rubicon, Mr. de Viel Castel has built an extensive network of connections with European and Asia-Pacific governments, international diplomats, and sustainability and technology analysts and influencers that will be beneficial in his new role at Rubicon.

In 2014, Mr. de Viel Castel was directly introduced to Rubicon Global by Mr. Oscar Salazar, Founding CTO of Uber Technologies, Inc., current Rubicon Global Board Member, and current Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of Pager, a healthcare technology and services platform that seamlessly connects people to care.

“From the moment I interacted with Renaud, I knew that his deep experience in transportation and mobility combined with his passion and vision to collaborate on solutions for a shared economy could be a tremendous asset to the Rubicon Global team,” said Mr. Salazar.  “I was thrilled to put Renaud’s name forward to Rubicon Global, and watch as his ideas and strategies were implemented over the years to build a successful hauling network. With his global experience, Renaud is the perfect leader at Rubicon to help build international technology and business partnerships that will accelerate Rubicon’s mission to end waste.”

In 2016, along with Rubicon Founder, Chairman and CEO Mr. Nate Morris, Mr. de Viel Castel was instrumental in forming the partnership between Rubicon Global and SUEZ, the France-based environmental services organization. That strategic relationship with SUEZ led to an investment in the company.  Mr. de Viel Castel’s promotion was effective January 1, 2019.
