By far the most 'stolen valor' incidences are from overcompensating chicken hawk righties who are constantly harping to send someone else's kid to do what they wouldn't do when it was their time.
They know what they couldn't do, and they overcompensate....pathetically.
That is so palpably, verifiably true I don't even know why you bring it up. Surely you've met some of those I described?
Whatever else you can say about Phillips, he ENLISTED in the USMC.
