Note the ability to carry pallets of freight loaded through the large side door - something the single Omega DC-10 does not have - when operating in the mixed Military Tanker Transport role. That makes an attractive proposition for supporting deployments - an example might be when the USMC has to fly F-35Bs across the Atlantic to embark on the state-of-the-art HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier which is planned for 2021.
