Breaking: Trump to meet with Kim Jong Un for a second summit

WASHINGTON – President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un will meet for a second denuclearization summit in February, the White House announced Friday.

The breakthrough came after Trump huddled with a top North Korean negotiator in the Oval Office on Friday.

“President Donald J. Trump met with Kim Yong Chol for an hour and half, to discuss denuclearization and a second summit, which will take place near the end of February,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “The president looks forward to meeting with Chairman Kim at a place to be announced at a later date.”

Kim Yong Chol met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo earlier Friday at a DC hotel before heading to the White House.

He reportedly carried another personal letter from his boss to the president and Vietnam is under consideration for the venue of a second meeting.

Since Trump’s historic Singapore meeting with the North Korean dictator, he’s sought to make further progress on a plan to end the nuclear threat from the regime. Meanwhile, North Korea wants relief from painful sanctions.

The last time Kim Yong Chol visited Washington in June he delivered a letter from Kim Jong Un that paved the way for the initial Trump-Kim summit.
