Make an invalid assumption, then draw conclusions

So, there are differences based on race in levels of amyloid and tau, in Alz patients. Yet the group with lower levels, African-Americans, has a higher rater of Alzheimer's.

Now, wouldn't that lead one to believe that maybe those levels are not predictive of Alz after all -- and that maybe something else causes the disease?
But no -- since we go on the assumption that come hell or high water the amyloid/tau theory is correct, well, let's just try to find some way to incorporate this finding into the current, bankrupt, failed amyloid/tau theory.
