That likely is a factor though also a counter-veiling factor is that there were at least ~180M phantom 'shares' (electronic markers, IOUs) sold on the day of the lock back in 2011 which need to be covered now as there are no longer any excuses for the MM brokerages to not have to cover. DTCC services have resumed so now if they wish to play MM it's time to clear the books and cover all those naked short positions. What I am wondering is where all the real shares will come from to cover hundreds of millions in naked short positions and at what price?! Just speculation but who knows. Time will tell, guess we'll see what happens, in the end, maybe we'll even see 'soon'. Should be interesting to watch whatever occurs.
