While most level headed people in America cheer for the recovery of aging Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the 85-year-old still working for the Supreme Court who just had cancerous nodules removed in a surgical procedure, there was at least one liberal website who appears to be very angry with the liberal Justice.
Put it this way, if someone her age is still working, goes through a major medical procedure, and comes out OK – it doesn’t matter who it is, you have to feel happy for them.
Now when it gets back around to the political aspect of her job, then that’s where the love/hate relationship comes in and the website Mother Jones posted an article that seems a bit bitter that RBG is still working.
The reason why?
Because if Ginsburg retired years ago when Barack Obama was still the president, then Obama would have named her replacement, giving Democrats another power seat in the Supreme Court.
Ginsburg is getting up there in age, she’s starting to have health scares, and it would be in her best benefit to retire. Of course, that would put President Trump in the position to nominate another Supreme Court Justice, something that Democrats are terrified of.
If Trump has another selection, then power in the Supreme Court is changed for decades.
That’s a major power swing towards the Republican side.
The Mother Jones blogger isn’t happy about this. They wanted Ginsburg to quit years ago, but perhaps no one expected Trump to become president. Did anyone really think he had a chance?
It wasn’t until he started knocking Republicans out of the race that he finally picked up the steam that lead his train to do victory laps around Hillary Clinton after she stole the DNC nomination from withering Bernie Sanders.
The slightly angry Mother Jones Twitter post stated, “no amount of hagiography can obscure the fact that, while Ginsburg is responsible for a great number of landmark legal decisions, her legacy may be sorely tarnished by one terrible one: refusing to retire when Obama could have named her replacement.”
