I think many of the bashers are much smarter than they get credit for, but I also think they have far less of a conscience than given credit for as well. The insults are meant to exhaust shareholder morale and wear people down; and when the site allows immediate deletion of longs returning fire, it adds to the exhaustion once people have waited or see the price turning red.
