Flynn's Biggest Mistake: Taking Free Advice From Pundits on Fox News.
For a whole year, Hannity and other 'pundits' on Fox News have been whining that Flynn was 'ambushed' and put into a 'perjury trap.' That the FBI agents who interviewed him "didn't think he lied." (A falsehood.)
That what he did was the equivalent of 'forgetting' something you said months earlier in a casual conversation. And how, based on all of that...he should withdraw his guilty plea. Sean Hannity literally said that many times on his show.
In the week leading up to Flynn's sentencing hearing, Fox News hit a fever pitch, with talk about how anit-government Judge Sullivan was; and they had pundits who were claiming that Sullivan would VOID Flynn's conviction at the sentencing hearing, and SLAP MUELLER IN CUFFS INSTEAD.
So much bullshit coming from Fox News that Flynn and his attorneys took it seriously, and played up the angle of the FBI being unfair in court. I guess they figured they had nothing to lose.
The FBI was already asking for no jail time. If they play up the "I was AMBUSHED" angle, maybe the Judge will void the conviction entirely? WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
Seriously, they should have learned from watching the Papadopolous case play out. Papadopolous plead guilty in exchange for a light sentencing recommendation. Then he and his idiot fiance start listening to free advice from Fox News about how HE was railroaded into confessing to something he didn't do.
His fiance does the rounds on Fox News saying his guilty plea should be withdrawn...and what happens? At the sentencing hearing the FBI claims he's NOT being a cooperative witness, and recommends a STIFFER sentence.
When will these people learn that Fox is NOT on THEIR SIDE. They're only on TRUMP'S side, and listening to their free, indirect 'advice' is only going to get you into deeper trouble. I hope you're paying attention, Corsi and Stone!
