Re: DieselBuzz #4181
The Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce maps to a cliche we use in Texas - useless as teats on a boar hog... only derelicts and socialites, wannabes, and the useless attend chamber meetings, or expect anything they do to have merit - no real business gets done there. Even if I had nothing better to do, the CoC meeting wouldn't make the list.

As has been repeatedly pointed out:

- the Texas Government Code, under which incorporated villages, towns, and cities, as well as counties are regulated, prevents direct, or indirect investment in private, for-profit companies

- the City of Fort Stockton is 21-miles south-southeast of MMEX's site - the site does not lie within Fort Stockton's standard, or extra-territorial jurisdiction - the city has absolutely, positively nothing to do with MMEX from a regulatory, or taxing standpoint

- the county, Pecos County in this case, has some limited regulatory authority over MMEX

- the Pecos County CAD and taxing authorities have some limited jurisdiction over MMEX

- the Fort Stockton CoC has no authority of any kind - they could blow some money "supporting" MMEX, but that's like a skid-row bum investing his plasma in magic beans, vs. booze... Good luck with that.

Quote:
Gee that's nice but why in the world would I believe you? That's ridiculous. i was hoping for something a little more substantial than that. Were you also at the meeting they had at the Chamber last year? A lot of the public works heads were there as well as the mayor.
