Imagine someone saying "you have a 75% chance of getting a debilitating condition which may hospitalize you with a feeding tube... or, you can use a mouthwash a few times a day." Which would most patients choose?
I wonder if the FDA will require a control group, or if they will use the newer method of letting everyone have the real thing, and then comparing results to historical averages? What a bummer to be in the control group -- needlessly cruel, if you ask me, given how well-known the historical averages are.
We'll know a lot more when the meeting minutes are disclosed.
