Trump Survives Daily Media Onslaught, Still Has Hi
Post# of 65629
Without question, President Donald Trump is attacked on a daily basis by the predominately liberal media that despise everything about him, many of whom are also unashamed to display their biased animosity toward the president.
Whether it be about alleged Russian collusion that still remains unverified after two years, wild speculation about a potential impeachment or coverage of both real and imagined “scandals,” the president is besieged by the media every day.
When the media isn’t discussing those issues, they routinely disparage and smear Trump as being a bigoted, racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic xenophobe who is as corrupt as he is hateful, among whatever other various -ists and -phobes they can dredge up to use against him.
Yet, despite this constant onslaught from the liberal media, the president’s approval numbers remain high, higher, in fact, than those of his predecessor who was treated with kid gloves by an adoring media for eight years.
Rasmussen Reports noted that its Daily Presidential Tracking Poll showed that, as of Wednesday, Trump had an approval rating of 48 percent, as compared to a disapproval rating of 50 percent.
Interestingly, Trump’s 48 percent approval rating beats by three points the 45 percent approval rating held by former President Barack Obama at the same point in his presidency, Dec. 12, 2010 .
Furthermore, an interactive chart provided by Rasmussen, which compares the daily tracking numbers for both presidents show that Trump has had an approval rating either equal to or greater than Obama’s since around February of 2018.
Of those 48 percent who currently approve of the president’s job performance, 34 percent said they “Strongly Approve” of the job he is doing, while 41 percent of respondents said they “Strongly Disapprove” of Trump.
The difference between the “strong” approval and disapproval ratings is what Rasmussen refers to as the Presidential Approval Index, which in this case would be -7 points, and as it is linked to the daily tracking poll, it similarly shifts on a daily basis as well.
Just one day prior to Wednesday’s polling numbers, Trump’s approval index stood at a mere -3 points, as 36 percent “strongly approved” compared to only 39 percent who “strongly disapproved.”
Since February of this year, the worst approval index rating Trump has received was a -15 approval reached on July 18, in which Trump’s “strong” numbers were 31 percent approve and 46 percent disapprove, part of the overall rating of 44 percent approval and 54 percent disapproval on that day.
As per Obama’s approval index history, the former president stood at -15 points on the same Dec. 12 date in 2010, as only 24 percent “strongly approved” of his job performance while 39 percent “strongly disapproved” of the job he was doing. Obama’s overall approval numbers on that day were 45 percent approve and 53 percent disapprove.
However, that -15 was not the worst index rating Obama had received over a similar stretch of February to December, as Obama’s index numbers were routinely in the negative mid-teens and even topped -20 on numerous occasions, spiking at a downright terrible rating of -24 on Sept. 9, 2010.
To be sure, the two presidents are different men with vastly different governing styles facing different problems … but the biggest and most obvious difference between the two is the widely disparate treatment the two men have received from the mainstream media.
Obama was heralded and placed on a pedestal by the media, even as a significant margin of the nation remained staunchly opposed to his job performance and leftist agenda.
Trump is attacked and smeared by the media on a daily basis, yet roughly half the nation still stands beside him and approves of his conservative agenda and the job he continues to successfully do under withering media fire that likely would have already destroyed any other Republican president, and would have sunk Obama.
