That's a great question...I don't know. I would think it would not effect the share price since those trades have 2 sides to them and they just cancel them out and the daily volume goes down. But I honestly don't know. But to think etrade will have to buy back the shares, I'm not sure since they were like naked shorts, but the account holders were not entitled to the extra 20 shares, so that money will get disgorged. If they are naked shorts, then Etrade will use that money to buy the back. If the prices stays here, they could make a profit but probably have to pay a fine to FINRA for it, so they will get disgorged themselves and then some.
However the account holders will not get to keep the illgotten profits from shares they are not entitled to.
