Donald J. Trump had just tossed his hat in the ring and was in for the fight of his life. He had SIXTEEN opponents in the primary to beat.
He was not a politician and had to assemble a campaign staff. He needed tons of research on his 16 opponents, he had to raise funds, set up offices, etc.
Trump hit the campaign trail running while Hillary rested up for her next debate.
Trump had no time to deal with a washed-up Russian hotel deal.
Trump probably knew that Cohen wasn't entirely honest but we do know that Cohen's taxicab business was being destroyed by Uber and Lyft.
