Re: MMPJOE #374
Joe, sorry you don’t read my post completely and want to get upset. What I said is that the closing price of GNBT for Friday 11/30 will get adjusted down for the dividend amount. Stock prices do get adjusted for dividend, the closing price that is. It may be that the stock is $19 at the open on Monday in which case we would be up $18.10 or 2000% for the day...and I hope it does that. But the closing price from Friday will get adjusted for a dividend payout (not split).

As far as the selling, people need to pull their open sell orders because they get adjusted for the dividend payout as well. So if they don’t get pulled, they will most likely cause an initial sell off until the market makers and buyers/sellers get a hold of the situation.

You like to quote GE going down and you can’t blame prior management, however when GE pays a cash dividend, the closing price of the stock gets adjusted down by the dividend payout. So if they were at $9 and paid a dividend of $0.25, then the closing price from the day before gets adjusted down to $8.75. Now if the buy orders were not adjusted down, then if someone had a buy order for $8.90 and now the stock closing was adjusted to $8.75 it would create a buy at the open automatically since the buy order is higher than the prior closing price. So buy orders and sell orders get adjusted too. If no one buys or sells, then the current price of GNBT on Monday could be $18.99.
