Right-wing author Jerome Corsi told The Hill on Thursday that he plans to file “criminal charges” against special counsel Robert Mueller.
Mueller has been investigating Corsi and President Donald Trump’s longtime consultant Roger Stone as part of an investigation into election interference by Russia.
The investigation has inquired about Corsi and Stone’s roles in connection to WikiLeaks’ release of emails belonging to John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman, during the 2016 presidential elections.
Right-wing author Jerome Corsi told The Hill on Thursday that he plans to file “criminal charges” against special counsel Robert Mueller.
Mueller has been investigating Corsi and President Donald Trump’s longtime consultant Roger Stoia.
The investigation has inquired about Corsi and Stone’s roles in connection to WikiLeaks’ release of emails belonging to John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman, during the 2016 presidential elections.
The special counsel claims that Corsi lied about an email sent from someone Corsi identified as Stone during questioning by investigators earlier this year.
The draft court documents obtained by The Hill reportedly say that Corsi had been asked via email to look into what emails WikiLeaks would release ahead of the 2016 election.
Corsi denied responding to the email or trying to contact WikiLeaks about them.
According to The Hill, Larry Klayman, who joined Corsi’s legal team earlier this week, said that the complaint will claim that Mueller and his team asked Corsi to lie, commit witness tampering and other criminal violations.
Klayman said that the complaint would be filed Thursday or Friday with Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker, the Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility, and the department’s inspector general.
Klayman didn’t provide any more details about what the special counsel asked Corsi to lie about, but he brought up Corsi’s statements that he had not willfully misled federal investigators when questioned.
Klayman said that he trusts that Mueller “will be wise enough not to seek an indictment of Jerry Corsi,” as the indictment could give Corsi’s legal team the opportunity to challenge the authority of the special counsel.
“I think he’s a political hack and a criminal,” Corsi said of Mueller in a Hill.TV interview with Buck Sexton and Jamal Simmons.
“We’re going to say to the Office of Professional Responsibility and the inspector general that the way these prosecutors on Mueller’s team behaved with me, and the deal they gave me, which was fraudulent, I believe demands a criminal investigation,” Corsi said.
As private citizens usually cannot bring criminal charges against someone, it is unclear what kind of civil suit Corsi may be considering.
Corsi revealed earlier this week that he had received a plea deal offer from Mueller, but had rejected it.
“They want me to say I willfully lied. I did not intentionally lie to the special counsel. I’m not going to agree that I lied. I did not,” Corsi said.
“I will not lie to save my life. I’d rather sit in prison and rot for as long as these thugs want me to.”
