Heading to small town Texas tonight for a high sch

After all the crap we are subjected to in national news, political positioning, and bogus board posters this is like going back in time when small town America signified respect and civility by all, the high school kids address adults as Sir and Ma'am, and if a team gets outplayed their fans cheer for the victors for a game well played. No crying by the fans at the refs, but hearty cheering for all to do their best. Kind of like washing the dirt of the week off oneself.
Our team has fancy white shoes with gold edging, the band doesn't wear uniforms and some real small towns only have a handful of members, and most every girl that wants to be a cheerleader gets to be a cheerleader or a member of the flag or drill team. Field is filled with happy relatives and friends after a game, cheering for the victors and consoling the losers.
Lots of people don't see this side of Texas. Not all assholes and braggarts but the salt of the earth country folk. That is why I don't look at Texas as just a state, but also a "State of Mind". Like me, simple, and proud of it.
