One thing that people often don't want to think about or deal with until it is too late is their (and/or a spouse's) long term care (in-home care, assisted living, and nursing home expenses). I have seen MANY people burn through over a million dollars on these expenses, and they ALL wished they would have had long term care insurance. It is better to spend a little on premiums to get a huge payout in the event you need care. The insurance is cheaper when you are at your youngest and healthiest. I'm a realist...I am sure my spouse or myself will need care sometime...I rather put more burden on an insurance carrier than my wallet (even when the wallet gets fatter)!!!
