YES: Ohio House Passes Bill To Prevent Abortions After Heartbeat Begins
Ohio state Republican House members have set up a showdown with Governor John Kasich after passing a bill effectively banning abortions after a heartbeat is detected in the womb.
The “Heartbeat Bill” is a significant victory for pro-life advocates after conservative legislators voted last week to advance the legislation 60-35 to the Ohio Senate where if it also passes, will all but certainly be vetoed by Kasich who has vowed to kill the bill.
With the current composure of the state Senate being overwhelmingly Republican, it’s likely that the showdown will occur before Kasich leaves office due to being term-limited and could futher complicate the staunch Never Trumper’s chances of launching a primary challenge against President Trump in 2020 which he refuses to rule out.
