BEVERLY, Mass., Nov. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Innovation Pharmaceuticals (IPIX) (“the Company”), a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, is pleased to announce that the Company is presenting a scientific poster—Brilacidin for Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Novel, Non-Corticosteroid, Non-Biologic Drug Candidate in Clinical Development—at the inaugural “IBD Innovate 2018” conference, being held today in New York City and hosted by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
Participants include diverse stakeholders interested in scientific advances and innovative programs in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) toward accelerating the introduction of novel products to address unmet medical needs in the treatment of chronic bowel diseases. Reflective of Brilacidin’s treatment potential in IBD given its unique immunomodulatory profile, the drug candidate has successfully been tested in a proof-of-concept study in distal colitis. Trial results showed that a majority of patients treated with Brilacidin achieved clinical remission, including mucosal healing as evidenced by endoscopic review, an increasingly important measure in establishing a drug’s efficacy. Plans include developing Brilacidin in an oral dosage form to treat more extensive forms of IBD, such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease.
