8 trading weeks until 2018 EOY 50Gbs protos "on track" for customer/partner evaluations

Based on our experience in this industry, we expect the customer design-in process to start with initial evaluation of our samples and reliability data, proceeding to more extensive evaluation, optimization, and possible customization.
We continue to fine tune our business model with target markets, customers, and technical specifications. Discussions with prospective customers are validating that our modulators are ideally suited for the datacenter and telecommunications markets that are over 10km in length. Details of what they want from a prototype are fed back to the technical team. The team is more energized and focused than ever.

While 8 weeks = 12.5% /week odds of 50Gbs protos delivered to select customers/partners, Vegas odds-makers suggest the "chalk" week for delivery would be the final week of 2018 based on the month of January being the month business generally hits the ground running with new budget/operating plans, and the November/December weeks are generally less productive based on holiday celebrations/vacations, so knowing that Dr Lebby has promised quarterly progress reports going forward, the news of 50Gbs protos could well be contained in the January 2019 quarterly update

Oh, and as Inversor pointed out, the opening round of 50Gbs protos will be be given out only to those agreeing to evaluate in short order
