Miscellaneous Updates (Friday Blog, Continued)
Good Morning HHSE Friends - as promised, we have been working on an update to the outline blog posted on Friday. However, when we started making the updates, the "teaser" blog was removed from being on-line... so it looked like we just "deleted" the earlier post. What we have been doing (and are still doing this morning), is providing the salient details of the issues, which the teaser post only included in the broadest of terms. We anticipate the updates with details to be posted mid-day today...
11:00-PM Monday Night (Central Time) - WOW! What a Day at HHSE! The morning started out as an OPERATIONAL DISASTER, but by the end of the day, not only had all issues been resolved, but FRED SHEFTE WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL - and Fred stepped in and was CRUCIAL in helping to fix the operational issue!
So, what was the morning disaster? We found out at 8:30-am Pacific Time that our TRUCKLOAD SHIPMENT of DVDs - which was scheduled for pick-up last Friday at 5:00-pm PST from our replication lab in Valencia - either "did not show up" or "showed-up at the wrong loading dock" (answer depends on who responded to us this morning). With SATURDAY and SUNDAY needed as essential transit time to the Walmart D.C. near Louisville, KY, it LOOKED like our Nov. 6 placement of "GETTING GRACE" for the New Release Modular - and hold into BLACK FRIDAY - was physically impossible.
"AIR FREIGHT" as a solution was not realistic as the RATES were off-the-charts expensive... and customary freight carriers could not get the merchandise delivered in time.
Surprise-Surprise! Around lunchtime, in walks D. FREDERICK SHEFTE in "street clothes" and looking surprisingly strong. Turns out that Fred was released today after four consecutive days of healthy heart-lung rhythm and function... and just in time to help resolve a huge DVD shipping challenge. By 5:40-pm PST today, three separate shipments had left the lab and were staged in time to meet the various product needs for the Sony team's placement of "GETTING GRACE" next Tuesday. A small portion went overnight air... another portion went via 4-day truck... but the majority of the product went by dedicated "hot-shot" truck (two drivers taking shifts and driving straight-across the U.S.A.). Fred had the contacts with shippers - and the accumulated favors needed to pull these strings. Crisis averted!
SO - that brings us back to all of the "other stuff" that we thought would be on today's agenda... but which got hijacked due to DVD street date issues. Accordingly, we ask our friendly and patient longs to bear with us for another 1/2-day or so before we provide the balance of detailed updates on other legal, corporate and operational issues...
WELCOME BACK FRED SHEFTE!
