Cherokee Nation Blasts Warren, Issues Scorching Re

Chuck Hoskin Jr., the Cherokee Nation’s secretary of state, gave Warren a brutal fact check shortly after she celebrated the results. “Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America,” Hoskin said of the “useless” tests.
Hoskin did not stop there, going after anyone “using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely,” an action he called “inappropriate and wrong.”
His statement was ended with a direct reference to Warren, who he said was “undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.”
Warren’s release comes after President Donald Trump boasted earlier in the year that he would give the senator one million dollars if a test proves she is “an Indian.”

The results of the test did not result in a payday, but instead were disastrous for her claims of Native American ancestry. A possible indigenous ancestor, six or ten generations removed, was identified. No other supporting documents were provided by Warren.
Carlos D. Bustamante, the Stanford University professor behind the analysis, even acknowledges the shortcomings of his process.
Because of a lack of Native American DNA, Bustamante admits he was forced to use samples from South America, including countries like Peru and Colombia.
That’s an entire hemisphere away from Warren’s claimed roots in Oklahoma Indian Territory.
