No one 'chooses' to be or not be gay. If that were the case we would all remember making the choice. I've never met anyone who remembers choosing in either direction. And of course until recently, it was not legal for gays to marry.
That usually ends the discussion with sane people, and drives conservatives into sputtering incoherence.
Freedom of choice is the law of the land, for now.
But the vaccination requirement, as described for all 50 states, impacts the health of those in classrooms.
So the decision was made, allowing for legitimate religious exemption but not for anti-science hysterical exemptions.
And at our ages no one is forcing us to get flu or pneumonia shots.
The 'herd' also thins more easily among our contemporaries who fall sick with more readily without those two vaxes.
