Multi-year history of $396M in contracts for milit
Post# of 2306
I have now located all the contracts which are continuous from 2007 to 2019.
As I stated in my previous authoritative posts on the subject, there is more than enough headroom for another contractor in this space given the shortfall in US military "probe- and-drogue" refueling capability.
Also, I was correct to state in various posts that we could expect to see increased use by the US military of contractor provided air-to-air refueling for deployments, delivery flights, trials and missions where "non-military" aircraft are desirable. All these were confirmed by the following detail in the FY2017 and FY2018 contracts which refer to:
- Various locations outside the Continental US including Guam, Denmark, Belgium and the UK (deployments / exercises).
- Foreign Military Sales Program (deliveries).
- Support to Government contractors (refueling trials).
- Support to other DoD and Government agencies (don't ask !).

The aircraft have been stored at RAAF Richmond for about 18 months since the last was retired.
Omega has already used its K-707 fleet to refuel Australian F/A-18A/B fighters, in the absence of the RAAF K-707s it has just purchased. On the other hand, it is much cheaper for Australia to pay for flight hours than it is to support the aircraft’s full ownership costs.
