Exactly, and a great deal of the time it's not even those doing the bashing that are scooping up the shares from the panic sales they help to generate.
It's the manipulators at the top of the food chain who are paying those filthy bashholes to talk Chicken Little BS about their target stock. It's the big boys at the top like Market Makers and sleazy corporations that rake in the serious profit from the work of the trolls.
Even large investment banks have been exposed for manipulating penny stocks. If there's enough money to be made, and if the fines, if any litigation ever actually generates them, don't even touch the haul, then just about any greedy, slimy organization will get in on the action. Big banks are like big oil, big pharma, drug cartels, etc. They have the money to manipulate even the authorities.
It didn't work for Enron because the whole fiasco was about them RUNNING OUT OF MONEY, AND ESSENTIALLY STEALING PENSIONS ON THEIR WAY DOWN. THEIR DAYS OF BEING ABLE TO PAY ANYBODY ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THAT WERE OVER WITH, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY WERE OUT THERE IN THE BRIGHT LIGHT FOR ALL TO SEE. THE PUBLIC PRESSURE ON POLITICIANS AND THE JUDICIAL BRANCH IN PARTICULAR WAS TREMENDOUS. EVEN THE LONG TIME FRIEND OF GEORGE BUSH'S FAMILY, KENNETH LAY, WENT UNDER THE BUS.
Unfortunately, there are still a boat load of white collar crooks out there that go unpunished for their crimes.
At the same time, there are of course some malicious posters who's intentions are to actually hurt the company any way possible for the benefit of their investments in companies that are directly competing in the same market.
It was actually documented when this company first launched product. A Colorado based competitor was actually bashing RMHB (THCZ at that time) on message boards in 2015, but since he had ceased, the charges were eventually dropped.
