MJplays, those are very good questions, but the situation is far more complicated then that.
First, their are dozens of other MJ plays as you stated, but many are now embroiled in lawsuits and/or are under Federal investigation for mislabeling products or other such issues. This is happening because all the government agencies have not laid out clear and decisive rules, and the rules we do have contradict one another from one jurisdiction to another. The rules will be worked out, and laws will be changed, but it will take time. Canada, on the other hand, made marijuana legal and will move further in that direction as early as next month.
What the Farm Bill does for us, of course after it already designated the lead agency (the FDA), is it may allow the mass cultivation of HEMP, and that is what will provide CBD for medical purposes. We can already grow HEMP as well as other cannabis in a controlled setting (AGRiMED has a facility in Pennsylvania), but this bill will or could allow HEMP to be grown in fields. HEMP will then become a cash crop, and fortunes will be made on this one product alone. What I am saying here is that we have two industries for the price of one. We have medical marijuana which is huge and we have commercial HEMP, and that is huge as well --- maybe even larger.
The fact that AGRiMED is intent on producing medical grade cannabis of the highest order results in opportunities should they be designated as a Federal research cultivator and processor. But because Congress and various agencies (the DEA for example) has not yet publicly declared what they will do, we are stuck in a start and stop situation. Look for the DEA to move soon.
