Grassley calls Kavanaugh’s accuser’s bluff aft

It’s beginning to make sense why the lawyer representing Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually abusing her 36 years ago, appeared on CNN Monday to say her client is willing to testify — which may be a cover for an ensuing delay tactic.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said Tuesday in an interview with Salem Radio host Hugh Hewitt that Ford is not responding to requests to testify about her claims.
“We still haven’t heard from Dr. Ford, so do they want to have the hearing or not?” he said. “We’ve reached out to her in the last 36 hours, three or four times by email and we have not heard from them.”
The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing next Monday to allow Ford to speak.
“It kind of raises the question do they want to come to the public hearing or not?” Grassley continued.
“The reason we are having the public hearing is obviously, well number one, accusations like this deserve consideration and looking into and that’s what the purpose of the hearing is.”
He noted that they’re holding the hearing because Ford told the Washington Post she wanted to testify — at least, she did until Grassley called her bluff.
JUST IN: Christine Blasey Ford has ignored several emails to appear before Senate Judiciary Committee, after she told the Washington Post she would be more than willing to testify in Congress, after asking Sen. Diana Feinstein to keep her accusation anonymous.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh has accepted the invitation to testify and is scheduled to be on Capitol Hill Monday, Townhall reported.
Grassley told Hewitt there’s no current effort by the FBI to investigate the claims of an incident that allegedly took place nearly four decades ago.
“The FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh is closed,” he said. “The FBI is not doing any further investigation.”
For what it’s worth, Grassley was noncommittal about the date of a conformation vote, but Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Fox News’ Sean Hannity a vote will take place next Wednesday.
Grassley on Ford not yet accepting invitation to testify Monday: "I would surely hope she'd come Monday. She's surely prepared. She hired a lawyer, I understand, back in August. "

Here’s a sampling of online responses, with social media users very skeptical about whether Ford will show up Monday:
I wonder if she were asked to show her emails for the last 4 months, that would clear things up really fast! C. Grassley has called their bluff, now we will see if she shows up too testify under oath! #MAGA

Schedule the vote. Give her a deadline. If she’s a no show, just move along and confirm #Kavenaugh

Hard to respond when your story is complete BS. That and the fact she will have to testify under oath. And if she is caught lying under oath, many will want her incarcerated. Just sayin

Dem tactic to delay vote and nomination. Ford/her team will respond by Friday or weekend that she needs time to prep and can’t testify on Monday. It will have to be in Mid Oct or later. GOP will cave due to Flakey/Collins and there won’t be a vote. It’s all a game and politics!

We have seen this before. They stall for a reason, as you suggest, and I agree. There is no way she could not be there at this moment, this morning. Kavanaugh is ready, why not her? If the left gets away with this tactic, as Tucker said last night, “it’s over, what’s the point”?

Don't hold your breath. This lie will not stand up to too much examination. So she is in the wind. https://t.co/WrsdVEFi54

That's weird. You would think she would jump at the opportunity to tell her story, under oath, to congress, publicly, on television so the American people themselves can hear her story from 36 years ago in which she can't remember the house, the year or the season? https://t.co/5tDEmyQZTH

Just like with Anita Hill, there will be no earth shattering revelations and casual observers will think “That’s it?? Shoot, worse things happened to me and I gave the guy : ICK ONE:: a (piece of my mind) or (slapped the crap out of him)”. Meanwhile, the #MSM will overreact.

Smearing Kavanaugh for the RESISTANCE is one thing, but lying UNDER OATH in a public hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee is too big a risk. Dems expected R's to fold like a cheap suit in the face of false allegations alone and @POTUS to pull nominee. TRY HARDER! #SCOTUS https://t.co/QpNA03ZDX7

She's not coming. The bluff got called & she's lying. She's smart enough to know her appearance is a giant perjury trap & R's are salivating at springing it. Her own lawyer is basically saying she's not coming. https://t.co/cGiSMOvvnp

Durbin already said as much. He said December. Grassley is calling their bluff. If she's serious she'll show monday. But her lawyer & efforts by her school & her employer to scrub records show shes not coming.
