1. An overt plea of innocence that doesn't jive with any of the actions the basher has taken. Also a deflection of an accusation of criminal behavior. "Who me? I din-do-nuffin!"
2. An attempt to realign with the audience by saying, "Hey, I'm just like you," without giving solid examples of what stocks he was supposedly burned on and why...
3. A further attempt to realign with the audience by playing on the reader's empathy and pity. "I'm in such a rough spot, but I think it'll get better soon. Then I'll change my ways."

6. Completing the switcharoo, the basher attempts to force people to respond to his questioning, knowing this will lead them into an argument and divert their attention from his malfeasance. This is the feeble attempt at a jedi-mind trick, but havnagoodtime, you're no jedi.
You're a nerfherder. You're a dindonuffin kinda guy. That's yours to live with. That's pretty sad.
