Former Secretary of State and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry used a visit on Bill Maher’s Real Time program to fire back at President Trump, who accused Kerry of having “illegal meetings” with Iranian leaders.
“He’s got the maturity of an eight-year-old boy with the insecurity of a teenage girl”
Kerry’s appearance on the show was to promote his new memoir, “Every Day is Extra,” which takes a look back at his life and work in public service. He’s on a nationwide book tour through mid-October, according to his Twitter account.
But before he got into book-related topics, he had a few words for the president.

“He’s the first president that I know of who spends more time reading his Twitter likes than his briefing books or the Constitution of the United States,” Kerry said.
Kerry admits to the speaking with Iran and says “there’s nothing unusual” about it. Henry Kissinger, for example, travels around the globe talking to world leaders, he said.

Instead of focusing on his talks with Iran, Kerry suggested President Trump should be more concerned about Paul Manafort’s talks with special counsel Robert Mueller.
Manafort pleaded guilty to two federal crimes on Friday, and has agreed to cooperate with the Mueller investigation into whether there was collusion between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign in 2016.
“Soon you’ll be hearing him say that was the worst deal that’s ever been made,” said Kerry. “It’s gone from the art of the deal to the art of the squeal.”
Trump said Kerry’s talks would “only serve to undercut” the administration’s work.
Kerry also railed against the president over a number of recent controversies including the anonymous op-ed published in The New York Times and the Bob Woodward book, “Fear.”
“We have a president for whom… the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth are three different things,” Kerry said.
