Great article Wharfrat. This article highlights the internal struggle taking place between Republicans and Dems. Both parties want to provide subsidies to farmers and both parties insist on funding the SNAP program. The major hitch centers on reducing the number of food stamp recipients. Republicans want increased work requirements to get people into jobs just like President Clinton did, and the Dems don't want changes to the food stamp recipient program.


I find much of this bickering boring, and Congress is good about kicking the can down the road. I wanted the Farm Bill to include cannabis funding for the V.A., but the committee decided against it. They provided no reason for eliminating cannabis funding for the V.A.

The best aspect of this bill is that it has already designated the FDA as the lead agency for enforcement. That means the wheels can already start turning at the agency level. Other agencies can and will start adopting new rules and regulations based on this lead agency decision.

Just imagine if the Farm Bill had designated funding for cannabis for the V.A. --- can you say large government contracts? This may still come, but apparently it will be by some other means.
