Trump began preparations by ordering the Military to start moving ships out of East Coast ports.
Each state has an Emergency Management Division and all sections began preparations early. Emergency shelters are already set up. People were told to plan on up to 2 weeks without electricity.
Evacuation orders were issued on Sept. 10th, three days ago. People were told to fill their gas tanks.
Some nursing homes have been evacuated. Others have emergency generators.
Hurricane Hazel in 1954 destroyed most of the coast of North Carolina.
On a Friday in October 1954, Hazel came ashore at Ocean Isle Beach, one of four barrier islands that protect the rest of the county, as a category 4 storm. Hardly anyone expected it.
