Audiences Buy Up All Tickets for Opening Shows of HHSE Specialty Release, The Riot Act
Press Release | 09/11/2018
(Fayetetteville, AR) - "THE RIOT ACT," a period thriller set in 1903 and based on a true, unsolved murder at the King Opera House in Van Buren, Arkansas, is proving to be a hot ticket for movie goers in The Natural State. Special advance scrreenings in Fort Smith and Fayetteville sold out within hours of tickets being posted on line (over 200 seats each), and presales for the film's Friday night openings across the state are at or near sold-out levels already.
"We expected good support locally," said Eric Parkinson, C.E.O. of distributor Hannover House, Inc. (OTC: HHSE), and executive producer of the film. "But the demand is tracking at three-times greater than our forecast due to strong local market publicity coverage and favorable word-of-mouth about the film. We will evaluate the film's box office results on this opening weekend and decide on the breadth and timing of expanding to other major markets," he concluded.
"THE RIOT ACT" was written and directed by Fort Smith native Devon Parks, and produced by Parks, along with leading lady Lauren Sweetser ("Winter's Bone" and Jared Newman. HHSE Managers Eric Parkinson and Fred Shefte served as Executive Producers. The film's cast include Sweetser along with Brett Cullen ("Dark Knight Rises" , Connor Price ("X-Company" , Micah Hauptman ("Everest" and Brandon Keener ("The Purge: Anarchy" . Parks, Sweetser, Cullen and Price will be conducting additional media interviews in Arkansas on Wednesday and Thursday, and will be attending the special event premieres in Fort Smith and Fayetteville on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
"The support from local businesses and community leaders during the film's production was astounding," said Parkinson. "A seven block stretch of historic Van Buren was shut down for a week, and over seventy dump trucks of dirt were provided to convert the streets back to the turn-of-the-century period. Now that the film is opening in theatres, we're seeing another example of the incredible local support from the communities and the enthusiasm to see this film. We are hopeful that the stong themes and drama within the film will appeal to audiences throughout the USA and international markets."
