LG Display will develop electro-emissive QLEDs
by Riccardo Riondino , published on 05 September 2018, at 11:45 am in the DISPLAY channel
"Even the producer of the panels of the current OLED televisions invests in Quantum Dot technology, acquiring a share of the shares of NanoSys, Samsung partner for several years, with the same purpose of getting to produce QDEL (Quantum Dot Electro Emissive) displays"

Just after the probable release of Samsung's self-sufficient QLED in 2020 , ET News reveals that LG Display is also interested in Quantum Dot technology. Investing a sum equivalent to about 9.5 million dollars, the Korean company has in fact acquired 4% of the NanoSys shares. The American company supplies materials and collaborates with various manufacturers in the development of Quantum Dot, including Samsung Electronics, which in turn became a shareholder in 2010. According to some experts in the field, in the development of QDEL (Quantum Dot Electro Emissive) LG Display would be facilitated by the knowledge accumulated in the production of OLED TV.

In the structure of the electromagnetic QLEDs there are indeed similarities with the organic diode panels, so the production of the materials would be faster. To accelerate the arrival of the QDEL, the two Korean arch-rivals are working in parallel with the development of printing technologies. The nature of QD materials makes it necessary to replace the vacuum evaporation method with the inkjet printing process.
