Democrats’ double standard on Judge Kavanaugh

Flash back to June 2010: Solicitor General Elena Kagan appeared before the Democratic-majority Senate for her confirmation hearing to the U.S. Supreme Court. “The Senate did not demand that the Obama administration provide the tens of thousands of pages from Elena Kagan’s tenure as Solicitor General,” Ethics and Public Policy Center President Ed Whelan writes in National Review.
“Never mind that Kagan, in stark contrast to Kavanaugh, had zero judicial experience and that her SG records would have been the materials most probative of her legal thinking,” Whelan continues.
Naturally, Senate Democrats should take the same principled stand for executive privilege when examining records for Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Instead, less than one minute into this week’s confirmation hearing, Democrats began calling to adjourn the session altogether, citing insufficient information about the nominee.
Most of those Senators who continue to damand more documents had already made their decision they would not vote for ANY Trump nominee. They continue to obstruct and stall the hearings. Kavanaugh sat for 65 meetings with Senators giving anyone and everyone the opportunity to meet with him.
The delay for the 42,000 pages of documents was caused by a shortage of personal at the National Archives where they worked 12 - 14 hr. days digging out documents that are over 20 yrs old.
President Trump has discussed digitizing those records but the costs are proving to be prohibitive. It should have been done two decades ago and maintained.
In fact, “the Judiciary Committee has received the most comprehensive set of documents ever provided by a nominee to the Supreme Court, receiving more executive branch documents than the past five Supreme Court nominees combined,” Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) wrote yesterday.
“These documents are in addition to the most relevant portion of Kavanaugh’s extensive record; namely, the 307 opinions he authored as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit,” Sen. Tillis added.
I have listened to the entire hearing and some of the questions asked were just plain stupid and argumentative.
Exp: Do you consider native Hawaiians to be Indians?
Exp. Have you ever spoken to anyone in a law firm that has some 350 lawyers plus interns, secretaries and even janitors about the Mueller investigation! The firm has offices in NINE cities.
Kavanaugh asked Harris to be more specific but Harris demanded a YES or NO answer. Kavanaugh said he didn't know who was employed there so he didn't know if he had spoken to someone employed there or not.
Harris continued to demand an answer and finally accused Kavanaugh of refusing to answer her questions and what was he hiding!
The paid protestors continued their screaming interruptions. Some were interviewed outside by a reporter and they didn't even know what they were protesting about, were just told what to yell and got paid after they were thrown out!
I think it’s embarrassing for the country to allow protesters to interrupt a very important hearing. But to allow someone to stand up and scream from the top of their lungs is disgusting.
