TORONTO, Aug. 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It’s going to be a double celebration. Hong Kong’s famous Wine & Dine Festival is always an occasion for an unforgettable party and this year’s event will be even more celebratory than usual as the festival prepares to mark its tenth birthday.

This year, wine and dine enthusiasts from around the world will gather in Hong Kong from 25-28 October (Thursday through Sunday) to enjoy this event, which is organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) with China Construction Bank (Asia) as the title sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. The event will be 20% larger this year, extending from the Central Harbourfront Event Space to Tamar Park … a tribute to its increasing popularity with locals and visitors alike.

As always the Hong Kong festival will have a wide appeal, reinforcing the city’s position as the ‘Culinary Capital of Asia’. Here, in about 450 booths, will gather merchants, wine experts, Michelin-starred and other fine chefs, purveyors of craft beers, hotel professionals and those who just love to join a party. And what a party it will be!

There will be ten fine wine and dining zones offering a host of choices. In the wine category exclusively selected ‘Wine & Dine 10th Edition Specials’ will be launched, a ‘2009 Vintage’ series will be on offer along with chateau-bottled wines from various countries and regions, including Croatia, Russia and France’s renowned Burgundy region.

In the dining department a ‘10-Michelin-starred Dinner’ will be presented by visiting and local Michelin-starred chefs in the Tasting Room. Five international master chefs, including Bee Satongun, named Asia’s Best Female Chef 2018, will be joining two Hong Kong chefs to offer an eight-course, wine-pairing banquet. Some of the overseas chefs have already visited Hong Kong in search of local ingredients and inspiration for the banquet. This memorable feast will fuse Chinese, Thai and French elements.

Far less formal will be the ‘International Street Eats’ zone, featuring mouth-watering offerings introduced to Hong Kong by ‘street-eats’ specialists from around the world. They include Jiu-Wu Beef Noodle from Taiwan together with offerings from Korea, Europe and Latin America. All are guaranteed to bring new sensations to the taste buds of each participant.

Can there be too much good wine and savoury food? Well perhaps! That’s when the ‘Coffee Fiesta’ zone will be popular, presenting some of Hong Kong’s best coffee and pastry shops … the latter a treat for children (who are welcome to attend the festival) to look forward to. This zone will be located in Tamar Park.

The celebrations will include a mega birthday party with a special wine pass to be called the ‘Perfect 10 Passport’. With food tokens included with the wine tokens, the passport is designed to inspire visitors to explore various creative wine and food combinations. The passport will include a welcome drink and a 10th edition limited-issue wine glass as a souvenir of a wonderful event.

No birthday party is complete without live performances and presents. During the whole event independent musicians and buskers will be performing around the venue and each evening there will be live music performances on the main stage. In addition, there will be game sessions every day, with prizes including air tickets, wines, gourmet food and wine tokens valued at over HK$1 million (C$161,000).

Fine wines, delicious foods, coffee and desserts, music and prizes … could an event be any better?  Plan to attend the Hong Kong 10th Anniversary Wine & Dine Festival to sample and to purchase many of the offerings and to experience a fabulous party.
