Folks Now is Not the time to sell. Market makers are good at taking your money. Don't let them scare you into selling your shares at less than 50% of what you bought them for. Budding Business: Is Marijuana the Next Big Commodity to Invest In?
"My phone has been ringing off the hook since about a week before the election," says Troy Dayton, CEO of The ArcView Group , a San Francisco-based advisory firm that connects investors and entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry. While he's the first to admit that opening a pot dispensary or becoming a grower is full of risk and uncertainty, he also says that with the right seed money, the upside is sky high.

"I focus on the ancillary businesses; the businesses that are surrounding the cannabis industry that don't actually touch cannabis and are federally legal," he says in the attached video. His contacts have included "everybody from entrepreneurs who are just interested in the sector and want to put $25,000 to $50,000 to work, all the way up to billionaires and venture capital funds that are looking to make investments."

Cannabis Jobs: Washington State Seeks Marijuana Consultants for Market Research, Regulations
Looking to get involved in Washington’s emerging recreational marijuana industry?
One of the first opportunities has just emerged: The state is seeking cannabis consultants who can paint a picture of the potential market for legalized marijuana and provide guidance on everything from testing and packaging to inventory tracking and overall regulations.
The Washington State Liquor Control Board has officially posted an RFP for consultants on the section of its website covering Initiative 502, the voter-approved law that legalizes the sale and use of marijuana by adults. To see the entire RFP and submit a bid for the project, click here . (Note: In the “Filter by Government Organization” box, scroll down to “Liquor Control Board.” You’ll have to officially register on the site to read the document.)
Based on the criteria, this could be an ideal opportunity for an existing medical marijuana consulting firm that is familiar with all aspects of the cannabis business and MMJ regulatory models across the country. The state, however, also is looking for detailed projections on supply and demand – which could fall into the realm of an economist or university professor.
“One of the key things we want to do here in Washington is validate consumption numbers,” Brian Smith, a spokesman for the Washington State Liquor Control Board, told MMJ Business Daily this morning. “If you can understand what consumption is in Washington, you can build (a program) around that. We want to know how much growers need to produce to meet market demand. We don’t want to over-produce – clearly there’s a black market for marijuana – and we don’t want to under-produce.”
Smith said the state could hire more than one consultant to hit different areas of need.
“We’re trying to tap into the expertise out there that can help us with various tasks” as Washington sets up regulations covering the marijuana industry, Smith said. “There might be one vendor who can help us in this regard, or there might be more than one.”
These Are The Next 13 States That Could Legalize Marijuana...
Marijuana legalization advocates are hopeful that the Colorado and Washington will be just the first in a wave of states to legalize marijuana over the next 12 months, according to Allen St. Pierre, executive director of the
National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws .
In an email to Business Insider , St. Pierre said that his organization forecasts that several states — including Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, Montana, Minnesota and Nevada — will consider marijuana legalization measures in the coming months.
"The New England states have been a ‘hot bed’ for the last few years," he told Business Insider via email. "Recent victories for reformers in Washington and Colorado have breathed more legislative and media attention into these proposed legislative measures."
NORML tracks ongoing legislation and ballot measures in all 50 states. By its count, 13 will consider initiatives for legalization either through legislation or ballot measures.
In addition to those states mentioned above, Virginia will call for a legalization commission to explore the policy. NORML also counts Oregon as another possible state, even though a ballot measure was voted down in November.
A key question, however, is how federal law enforcement will respond to legalization in Colorado and Washington. So far, the Justice Department has not made any moves to respond to the two states' defiance of federal policy, though it is still reportedly weighing taking legal action .
But support for legalization has been growing steadily, gaining support for lawmakers and prominent public figures. Notably, a bipartisan group of representatives in Congress recently introduced the "Respect States' and Citizen's Rights Act of 2012," a bill that states that state marijuana laws should not be preempted by federal laws.
