I was told that the purpose of the visits is to inspect the facilities and meet with key people. Their main objective at these meetings is to make it perfectly clear that any fulfillment centers which are unable to consistently achieve the volume and quality they claimed to be capable of when deals were cut, would be promptly replaced.
Sending that email was definitely the thing to do. They should make you whole and follow up on any quality assurance issues. This kind of feedback will help them weed out the centers that could potentially hurt the business. All part of the growing pains, sorting them out until you're teamed up with the best available.
Actually, I'm not sure which locations the bottles are being filled at, but the folks you emailed will definitely know.
